According to an article in today's New York Times, a report from the Combating Terrorism Center at West Point has concluded that the long-dead "terrorist" Osama bin Laden and his so-called deputy Ayman al-Zawahiri are losing control of the Islamic jihad movement. As the NYT puts it:
Among the network’s ideologists, they have come to be seen more as propagandists than strategic thinkers.
The article goes on to claim that:
the death or capture of Mr. bin Laden and Mr. Zawahiri would do little to slow the spread of jihadist ideology.
Never mind that bin Laden's death was reported in December of 2001.

As the NYT reports:
American officials say they fear that the next generation of terrorist attacks could be carried out not by militants trained in Al Qaeda camps but by fighters influenced by radical texts posted online.

To me this sounds more like the beginning of an attack on the Internet than a serious evaluation of the dead "terrorist's" influence on his "followers".

But then I am quite possibly jaded.

Editor's comment:

The "War Of Terror" began when a dozen or so "hijackers" of mainly Saudi Arabian origin allegedly flew planes into the World Trade Centre towers, The Pentagon and a field in Pennsylvania. Even if we accept the official explanation, does this not lead to the obvious question:

How did "a small but highly organised group of individuals that hate our freedoms" manage to start "a war that will last for decades" with box cutters and airliners without some damned good strategic planners?

If what we are supposed (told) to believe happened on 9-11 and now from this present day report is even remotely true then surely Osama the Bogeyman and the incredibly busy escapologist Ayman al-Zawahiri were no more capable 5 years ago of stage-managing an event like 9-11 than they are now (dead or alive!) in which case another two questions must be asked:

Who are the strategic planners behind the "War Of Terror" now and who were they in September 2001?

And another:

Are they still the same people?

One assumes that they must be.

So, to put it more directly and in one easy package for all to understand...

If these "propagandists" are not "strategic thinkers", who ARE the strategic thinkers that were then and are now controlling the Jihadists?!

If not bin-Laden and al-Zawahiri, then who?

The Iranian President Ahmadinejad? No, he only took office in November 2005.

The Saudis? America's best friends in the Middle East? Surely not!

Hezbollah? They cannot fire Katyusha rockets over a fence with any reliability or accuracy...Hijacking US airliners and not even claiming responsibility? Not bloody likely!

The Pentagon...

Ouch...

Or should I say BINGO?!

Quite obviously, the Pentagon top brass are and were the only people who have been continuously involved and have the motive, ability and resources to carry out an attack such as 9-11 and manage to drag out a war which cannot be won whilst handing out billion dollar, no-bid contracts like sweets to "friends" such as Vice President Dick "And, boy, what a dick" Cheney...

But then again, like my good friend and partner in truth Winter Patriot, maybe I too am a little jaded!
