"With the bill I'm about to sign, the men our intelligence officials believe orchestrated the murder of nearly 3,000 innocent people will face justice," Bush said.No they won't. The people who orchestrated the murder of nearly 3,000 innocent people are home free now -- they get more protection from this new law than they have ever had in the past. Among those the United States hopes to try are Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the accused mastermind of the Sept. 11 attacks, as well as Ramzi Binalshibh, an alleged would-be 9/11 hijacker, and Abu Zubaydah, who was believed to be a link between Osama bin Laden and many al-Qaida cells.This paragraph deserves a hearty laugh but unfortunately it is too pathetic to be funny. Anyone who has the vaguest notion of the scope and the scale of the planning that went into the 9/11 attacks could never even begin to imagine Khalid Sheikh Mohammed as the mastermind. This is the vilest protection racket ever, and the craven press is letting them get away with it, every step of the way. In memory of the victims of the September 11 attacks? Yes, by all means! In memory of the victims of the September 11 attacks, could we just for once have an open and honest investigation of the events of that day, rather than a barrage of vicious propaganda and a series of heinous, regressive, repressive laws? In memory of the victims of the September 11 attacks, could we finally drop all the gag orders, and listen to all the witnesses, and compel all the principals to testify under oath, one at a time, and on the record?
